Abstract

903,759. Metatarsal pads. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. June 8, 1961 [June 16, 1960], No. 20800/61. Class 81 (2). A method for making an arch support comprises placing a bottom cover sheet 8a of a thermoplastic material, e.g. an unsupported vinyl film, on an electrode die 12, placing an elastic attaching bend 6 with its ends, which may be secured together as at 7, on the said sheet 8a and its loop below the die, placing laminations 9, 10 on the said sheet 8a together with a top thermoplastic cover sheet 11, heat-sealing the top cover sheet to the bottom cover sheet at 5 and inverting said band 6 to place its loop above the top of cover sheet 11. Laminations 9, a lift, and 10 may be of a thermoplastic foam material such as vinyl or polymethane foam &c. In the heat-sealing process a tear line may be effected outward of the seam 5 but not across the region of the attaching band 6. The edges of lamination 10 may also be included in the heat-seeled seam, Alternatively, the ends of the band 6 may not be joined together, the extreme ends of the band being sealed into the heat-sealed seam.
