Abstract

903,567. Making angularly corrugated fibreboard &c. OKAWA, R., and OKAWA, S. June 7, 1961, No. 20645/61. Class 96. In making angularly-corrugated fibre-board, a fibrous suspension is supplied under pressure to a gap Z between rotating rollers Xa, Ya, Fig. 5, so that white water is expressed and drains along grooves 13 and into a tray for reuse, the grooves being cleared of fibres by a doctor 37, Fig. 6. The general configuration of the surfaces of the rollers is as illustrated, to form the angularly-corrugated fibre-board. The grooves 13 may be machined in the surface of the rollers, or formed by rings 38 and spacers 39. The spacers may be of corrugated form to provide passageways for the white water into the interior of the rollers X, Y, Fig. 6, in which case, suction-boxes 46 are fitted. The wet fibre-board thus formed may be cut in lengths to suit a hot-oil or steam-heated multiple-platen press, the platens being of angularly-corrugated shape to suit the fibre-board. Cutting is effected as by a cutter-plate spring-pressed to a retracted position but advanced into cutting position by gearing, one wheel of which has teeth on a portion only of its circumference. The product may be sawn or planed and used for decorative building &c. material, and may be cut to make angle-section strips.
