Abstract

The invention comprises water-insoluble trisazo dyes of formula <FORM:0903369/IV (b)/1> wherein X is a hydroxyl group or a di-C1-C4 alkyl-substituted amino group and Ar is an aryl radical. They are used in the dyeing of polyolefins. In examples 1 mol of p 4-(41-amino- 21-methylphenylazo)- 1-aminonaphthalene prepared by reducing the nitro-azo dye 5-nitro-2-amino-toluene --> 1-naphthylamine is tetrazotised and coupled with 2 mols of 2-naphthol or N : N-dimethyl-m-toluidine.
