Abstract

Quaternary ammonium salts of dithiocarbamic acid are prepared by reaction between dodecyl-, tetradecyl-, cetyl- or stearyltrimethylammonium or dimethylbenzylammonium chlorides or bromides, or cetylpyridinium chloride or bromide on the one hand, and sodium salts of mono- or di-methyl-, or diethyl-dithiocarbamic acid, or ethylenebis-dithiocarbamic acid on the other hand.ALSO:A fungicidal or insecticidal composition comprises one or more solid or liquid fillers together with an active ingredient consisting of cetylpyridinium - methyldithiocarbamate, cetylpyridinium - dimethyldithiocarbamate, the dodecyl-, tetradecyl-, cetyl- or stearyl-trimethyl-quaternary ammonium salt of mono- or dimethyl- or diethyldithiocarbamic acid, the dodecyl-, cetyl- or stearyl-dimethyl-benzyl-quaternary ammonium salt of mono- or dimethyl- or diethyl-dithiocarbamic acid, or the cetyl - pyridinium, cetyl - dimethyl - benzyl- or stearyl - dimethyl - benzyl - quaternary ammonium salt of ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid. Optional ingredients present are dispersing agents (e.g. sulphite lye), binders, wetting agents, emulsifiers or mixtures thereof. One or more other insecticides or fungicides may also be present.
