A pneumatic tyre has an annular substantially inextensible reinforcing insert 2 extending over substantially the whole width of the tread, and a carcase having one or more layers of reinforcing cords 5 disposed at an angle α of 30-60 degrees to the mid-circumferential plane of the tyre and anchored at 4 in the beads of the tyre.
