902,505. Milling; drilling. DECKEL, H., and DECKEL, F. W. May 3, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 15505/60. Class 83 (3). A machine-tool comprises two independent tool units each independently adjustable in all three co-ordinate directions relatively to a work-table. A milling spindle 20 is displaceable axially in a slide 16 movable on a gear-box 14 movable vertically on a horizontally-movable slide 12. A similar unit on the opposite side of the work-table 10 has additionally a drill-head 22. The tools 22b, 18 simultaneously machine a T-slot and a groove in the workpiece 11. In a modification, two units 112, 112<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, similar to the right-hand unit of Fig. 1, are joined by a beam 122 having supports 122a, 122b for a common mandrel carrying milling-cutters 118 to machine the upper surface of a column 111 as the units are traversed together. The mandrel may be rotated by one or both units. Two other units simultaneously mill slots with cutters 118<SP>11</SP>, 118<SP>111</SP>. The work-tables may be adjustable. Several units may be controlled by a single programme device.
