Abstract

902,375. Foraminous forming-belts of Fourdrinier paper-making machines &c. DOMINION ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. May 15, 1961, No. 17582/61. Class 96. [Also in Group XXXVI] An endless belt 21 for use as a wire-cloth of a paper-making machine is formed by printing a paper or plastic sheet 5 with a foraminous pattern 9 in electrically-conductive ink, forming an endless band from it as by lap-jointing at 10, mounting it on a framework so that it can be made to travel through an electrolytic plating bath, e.g. for depositing copper 23 on the printed pattern 9 and stripping the paper or plastic therefrom. Optionally a coating of harder-wearing metal, e.g. chromium may be superposed electrolytically. The edges of the belt may be strengthened by applying a thicker layer of copper &c. there.
