Abstract

Antistatic agents for synthetic polymeric textile materials comprise alkali metal, ammonium or monoamine salts of diesters of orthophosphoric acid derived from aliphatic alcohols containing 2-5 carbon atoms. The amine salts may be those of dibutylamine, triethylamine, diethanolamine, butyldiethanolamine, methyldiethanolamine, triethanolamine or morpholine, e.g. the salts obtained by reacting orthophosphoric acid dibutyl ester with diethanolamine or triethylamine.ALSO:The formation of electro static charges on synthetic polymeric textile materials, e.g. polyacrylonitrile and polyamides, is prevented or inhibited by treating them with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal, ammonium or mono amine salt of a diester of ortho phosphoric acid derived from an aliphatic alcohol containing 2-5 carbon atoms. The amine salts may be those of dibutylamine, triethylamine, diethanol amine, methyl diethanolamine, butyl diethanolamine, triethanolamine or morpholine. 0.01-1% of the salt based on the weight of the material treated may be applied.
