[Also in Group XXIV] A double clutch for coupling driven pulleys 9, 11 to a driving-shaft 1 comprises a pin 17 axially slidable in apertures in discs 13, 15 fast with the driving-shaft and selectively engageable in notches 23 in discs 19, 21 fast with the pulleys. The pulleys may be operatively connected to variable capacitors for the reception of amplitude-modulated and frequencymodulated oscillations, respectively, and serve to effect their adjustment. Back-lash is substantially eliminated since the pin is at a relatively large distance from the driving-shaft. The pin is shifted axially by means of a rod 31 fixed to a shaft 27 axially slidable in a bore of the driving-shaft and urged to the right by a spring 35 and to the left by a stronger spring 37 whch is adjustable by means of a control cable 41. In a modification, Fig. 4, the pin comprises parts 47, 49 fixed to a sleeve 55 loosely mounted on the driving-shaft, and is shifted axially by the forked end 57 of the member 58 which is urged to the right by spring 59 and to the left by a spring 61, the tension of which is adjusted by a control cable 63.
