Abstract

901,981. Combustion chambers. ROVER CO. Ltd. June 22, 1959 [July 1, 1958; July 24, 1958], Nos. 21061/58 and 23883/58. Class 7(3) A switch-type precombustion chamber is provided with a series of projections 7, Fig. 2, or depressions 16, Fig. 14, to disturb the air flow. The projections or depressions are formed on a hot plug 4 forming the lower part of the combustion chamber and are situated upstream of the mouth of the passage 3 and in a position towards which the fuel is injected. The depressions or projections are preferably staggered and may be of various shapes such as conical, cylindrical, hook-shaped, semi-circular, or semi-ring shape. In Fig. 10 the entry passage 13 is slightly curved and some of the projections are arranged adjacent the mouth of the passage on both sides thereof. Specifications 901,982 and 901,983 are referred to.
