Abstract

<PICT:0901731/IV(a)/1> <PICT:0901731/IV(a)/2> In cutting (Figs. 3 and 4) sections 6 of equal length from a continuously formed fleece of a mixture of binder with fragments of a cellulosic material such as wood, bamboo or reeds and conveying the sections successively to a press for conversion to chip boards, the fleece is deposited on a succession of overlapping metal plates 5, each longer than the section to be cut, overlap of plates is maintained until the fleece is cut (by a band saw 7), and thereupon the metal plate leading in the operational direction (arrow 4) is taken forward at a greater speed to remove overlap with the plate following.
