Abstract
901,426. Automatic frequency-control systems. PYE Ltd. Jan. 13, 1961 [Jan. 25, 1960], No. 2619/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (5). A.F.C. voltage applied to a semi-conductor point contact voltage variable capacitor connected to a receiver local oscillator is amplified over a pre-detector signal amplifier stage of the receiver. The latter may be a grounded grid R.F. stage of an F.M. receiver, preceding a selfoscillating mixer. Alternatively the local oscillator and point contact capacitor may be part of a television receiver turret tuner unit, and a ratio discriminator for detecting an accompanying F.M. sound channel may produce the A.F.C. voltage which is then amplified over a sound I.F. amplifier before being connected over a single lead to the point contact capacitor. Alternatively an amplified A.F.C. voltage may be applied to each of two semi-conductor capacitors, connected to a local oscillator for a television channel and a local oscillator for an F.M. sound channel respectively.
