797,084. Automatic frequency control systems. PYE, Ltd. April- 26, 1956 [May 4, 1955], No. 12934/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). In a frequency-modulation receiver the amplified discriminator output from an audiofrequency amplifier stage also provides an amplified D.C. output measuring frequency drift of a local oscillator or of the mean frequency of an incoming signal and is applied to a barium titanate or other voltage variable capacitor in a local oscillator or other tuned circuit to correct or compensate the frequency drift. The D.C. output may be applied through a high resistance with intermediate shunt smoothing capacitor to a point in the local oscillator tuned circuit having D.C. blocking capacitors on either side, one of them being the voltage variable capacitor.
