[Also in Group XXV] A diaphragm of liquid permeable sheeting is anchored to a rigid projecting lip by folding a part of the sheeting over the lip and against opposite faces thereof and springing a resilient clip or clips of V-section over the fold to clamp the sheeting in sealing engagement with the faces. As shown, applied to the suspension or mounting of permeable diaphragms between electrodes of electrolytic cells, a sleeve or bag diaphragm 2 is suspended from a collecting bell 1 by folding the edge portion of the diaphragm over a bottom edge 1a of the bell and then applying a V-shaped spring clip 3 over the fold. Preferably, the clip extends the full length of the edge 1a In another arrangement, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), a flat diaphragm is similarly mounted in an opening of a rigid frame of T- section, the edge of the diaphragm being folded over and secured by the clip to the stem of the T.
