Abstract

The separator consists of an upper vessel for the suspension which is plugged in to the open top of a collector vessel for the soln. and between the two is a film of hydrophobic material which is permeable by water only when there is a large pressure differential across it, e.g. of a fused polymer fibre mesh or weave with a mean pore size of 0.45-10 mu. The film is supported by two porous discs and clamped between the mating surfaces. A detachable cover may be fitted to the upper vessel. A simple, maximum yield device with inherent health safety.
