900,993. Weighing apparatus. AVERY Ltd., W. & T. (Tacho-Schnellwaagenfabrik G.m.b.H.). March 17, 1961, No. 9742/61. Class 143. In weighing apparatus of the kind in which peripherally stepped graduated measuring wheels, corresponding one with each of decade or other orders of measuring values, are driven from the weighing apparatus so as to be set angularly in accordance with the magnitude of a weighment, and in which feelers are brought into contact with the adjusted measuring wheels so as to translate mechanically the position o the wheels to recording members, the feelers 1 are coupled, at 2, to pivotally mounted contact arms 3 sweeping over contact banks 5 connected in circuit with remote electrical recording or indicating mechanism, rotating switching means 16 being provided for imparting impulses through the selected contacts to the remote mechanism in accordance with the magnitude of a weighment. One end of each feeler 1 is also coupled, at 7, to a lever 8 which is rotatable about a shaft 10. Rotatable about the same shaft 10 are two arms 11 which are connected at their upper ends by an axle 12. Initially, the arms 11 are pressed back by a cam 14 (the position shown in Fig. 1) and the axles 12 thus cause the levers 8 to hold the feelers out of contact with the measuring wheels against the force of springs 19. When the measuring wheels have arrived at their weight indicative position, the shaft 13 which carries the cam 14 is rotated by a handle (not shown) so that the axles 12 allow the levers 8 and the feelers 1 to move towards the measuring wheels. The contact arms 3 are thereby displaced to assume angular positions according to the positions of the measuring wheels. When all the contact arms 3 are in position the handle also causes a motor to rotate a shaft 15, thus causing cam lobes 16 to close contacts 17 in succession, and so imparting the required impulses through the selected contacts 5.
