Abstract

900,659. Controlling gas burners. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. Dec. 21, 1960 [Sept. 21, 1959], No. 32085/59. Class 75 (1). [Also in Group XXIX] A gas supply valve comprises a rotatable cock 1 housing a thermostatically-controlled safety, valve 6 which is spring-loaded to a closed position and opened thermostatically through a bellows 14, connected by a capillary tube to a bulb located near the burner, when the burner is alight. The cock is actuated by a spindle 3 provided with a slot engaged by a spring 10 when the cock is in the fully-opened position. Rotation of the cock past this position opens a by-pass 7 around the safety-valve 6 through a port 13 so that the burner can be ignited initially. On releasing the spindle the cock is moved by the spring to its fully opened position. The valve outlet is provided with a regulating valve having an adjustable seat 9 and a closure member 8 controlled by fluid in a capsule 16 acting through a bellows 18 and rod 19 on a lever 20 pivoted on a plunger 21. The position of the pivot is adjustable by a cam 23 rotated by the spindle 3.
