Abstract

798,369. Valves. AKTIEBOLAGET BAHCO. Sept. 18, 1956 [Sept. 19, 1955; Oct. 10, 1955], No. 28507/56. Class 135. A device for controlling the pressure of gaseous fuel delivered from a container 1 comprises a valve closure member 4 urged by a light spring 5 towards a seat 3 and having a stem 18 engageable by an abutment 19 having screw - threaded engagement with a plunger 9 which is acted upon at its lower end by the delivery pressure in opposition to the loading of a spring 10 and is rotatably adjustable by a knob 12. The abutment 19 is permitted to move axially but prevented from rotating by a pin 16 engaging grooves 17 in the housing. With the parts in the position shown, in which a pin 13 carried by the knob 12 is in engagement with a fixed pin 14, the abutment 19 is withdrawn from the stem 18 so that the valve member 4 may close under the influence of its spring 5 but when the knob 12 is rotated by one revolution to bring the pin 13 again into engagement with the pin 14 the abutment 19 opens the valve member 4 to permit the delivery of gas which, acting on the plunger 9 causes closing movement of the valve member should the delivery pressure exceed the value determined by the setting, through a cap 11, of the spring 10. In a modification, the abutment 19 carries a conical closure surface intermediate its lower end and its threaded portion for engagement with a seating in the casing when the control knob is turned to the closed position. In a further modification the axis of the plunger 9 is at right angles to that of the valve member 4 and the abutment member, having screw-threaded engagement with the plunger, terminates in an inclined surface which engages a plunger arranged coaxially with the valve member 4. In this modification the outlet, formed as a burner mouthpiece, is situated at the upper end of the casing coaxially with the valve member 4.
