900,554. Nickel plating baths. KEMISKA A.B. CANDOR. Dec. 23, 1959 [Dec. 23, 1958], No. 43649/59. Class 41. A nickel plate of high corrosion resistance is formed using as electrolyte nickel salts and coumarin together with an acetylenic compound especially alcohols, esters or ethers, e.g. propargyl alcohol, or alternatively an acetylenic derivative of coumarin. In examples, the following are added to nickel chloride or sulphate baths, coumarin and propargyl alcohol, butinediol, hexindiol; propargyl coumarin sulphonate or propargylic ester of o-oxy-phenyl acrylic acid. Small amounts of sulphonates may be added together with aldehydes to prevent polymerized deposits, e.g. formaldehyde, or sulphonated benzaldehyde.
