A building construction comprises wall blocks 1, 1<SP>1</SP> having edge frame portions 3 which project beyond the edges of surface covering material 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, the blocks being spaced from each other by a distance which may be approximately equal to the distance between opposite edge frame portions 3 on each block, the spaces between the blocks being bridged by covering elements 5 fastened to the projecting parts of the edge frame portions. The spaces in the wall blocks and between opposite covering elements may be filled with insulating material. The surface covering 4, 4<SP>1</SP> on the wall blocks, and the covering elements 5 may be made of the same material, e.g. combined sheets of wall board and plywood.
