Abstract

896,524. Controlling gas burners. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. March 8, 1961 [April 7, 1960], No. 12405/60. Class 75(1) A thermostatically operated valve 13 for controlling a gas burner is disposed at one end of a mixing-tube 4 and is connected by an operating arm 15 extending parallel with the mixing tube to a snap-action bi-metallic disc 18 in contact with the base of the burner. The heat of the burner operates the bimetal disc 18 to keep the valve 13 open. The valve 13 is contained within a housing 12 and is provided with a sealing bellows 19 and a push rod 14 engaging the arm 15. The arm 15 is pivoted at 16 and is connected to the bimetallic disc by a screw 17. The burner together with the mixing tube 4 is detachably mounted in a frame 6 by three screws 9 engaging the burner head and vertical guides engaging a groove 11 in the mixing tube. For ignition a spindle 21 is rotated to cause a pin 20 mounted thereon to engage the arm 15 to force the bimetal disc 18 into the valve-open position.
