Abstract
896,235. Packaging machines. PAPER SACKS Ltd. May 13, 1960 [May 22, 1959], No. 17459/59. Class 94(1). A device for placing groups of articles into bags or cartons comprises a rotatable platform on which the articles are assembled, the platform then being turned through 90 degrees and the group thrust into the container supported on a filling guide. The platform has four compartments defined by members 8 and is rotatable on a shaft 7. Articles are assembled against the members 8 and a fixed end guide 10 and the platform is indexed 90 degrees by an air motor 16 and linkage 21. The operation of the motor simultaneously swings back an alignment plate 11 on a rod 12 pivoted at 13 and causes the upper portion 5a of the filling guide to approach the lower portion 5b. A container is placed over the guide and the motor 16 again operates to open the guide and advance the plate 11 to level up the group of articles. A plunger 3 then forces the group into the container. During the filling operation a new group may be assembled in the next compartment.
