Abstract
The invention comprises S-benzoylthiamine O-monophosphate having the formula <FORM:0896089/IV (b)/1> and salts thereof. The phosphate may be prepared by reacting thiamine monophosphate with benzoyl chloride or sodium benzoyl thiosulphate or dibenzoyl disulphide at a pH of 7-14 in water or in an aqueous organic solvent such as aqueous methanol, ethanol or acetone at a temperature of 0 DEG C.-30 DEG C. Salts may be obtained by adding calcium or sodium hydroxide.
