Abstract

896,044. Chucks. BODDAERT, W. R. Nov. 25, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44356/59. Class 83 (3). A bevel closing chuck comprises a nose 1 axially slidable on a shank 2 by a ring 3 having a left-hand thread co-operating with a similar thread on the nose, and a right-hand thread co-operating with a similar thread on the shank, the nose being non-rotatably mounted on the shank by a pin and slot 13, 14. Four jaws 4 urged outwardly by springs 8 carried by pins 9, and held together by a ring 10, are mounted in the nose and shank so that axial movement of the nose engages bevelled faces 6, 7, to close the jaws. An adjustable stop 12 for the drill &c. is mounted in the shank.
