Abstract
895,979. Injection moulding machines. ANKERWERK GEB. GOLLER. May 5, 1959 [May 6, 1958], No. 15367/59. Class 87(2). A mixture in an injection moulding machine is plasticized by a worm rotated at low speed, and is subsequently injected into a mould under considerable pressure by the worm rotating at high speed. Raw material 6 is fed into cylinder 4 containing a worm 3 and a stop cock 2 to the outlet nozzle 1 is closed. The worm 3 is rotated at a maximum speed of 120 revolutions per minute by motor 8 via gearing 7 so that the material is plasticized; the cylinder being heated if necessary. Driving cylinder 11 then operates linkage 13 so that motor 9 is engaged to the worm by coupling 12 and motor 8 is disengaged. The stop cock 2 is opened and the worm rotated at about 1500 revolutions per minute so that the plasticized material is forced rapidly into the mould. A single motor with suitable gearing may replace motors 8 and 9.
