Abstract
895,250. Photographic diazotype materials. CHEMISCHE FABRIEK L. VAN DER GRINTEN N.V. June 11, 1958 [June 17, 1957], No. 41827/61. Divided out of 895,249. Class 98(2). One-component materials for semi-wet development have a layer containing a diazo compound of formula where X represents an anion, R 1 an alkyl group of at most 4 carbon atoms, R 2 an alkyl group of at most 4 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group, that may or may not be substituted, of at most 7 carbon atoms, and R 3 an alkyl group of at most 4 carbon atoms, and at least one aliphatic saturated dicarboxylic acid selected from the group of succinic, glutaric, adipic, pimelic, suberic, azelaic, sebacic, antidimethyl succinic, ethyl-succinic, #,#-dimethylglutaric, /3-methyl adipic aspartic and glutamic acids in a quantity equimolecularly corresponding to at least 0.2 grams per square metre of the light-sensitive surface. Moderately alkaline developers containing phloroglucinol yield stable brown-black dyes little affected by development fluctuations therewith. In an example baryta-coated paper is sensitised with a solution containing p-methylbenzylaminom - ethoxy - benzene, # - methyl adipic acid, caffeine and a polyvinyl acetate dispersion and the developer therefor comprises a phloroglucinol mixing of pH 10.2. 3-ethoxy 4-di-npropyl-amino benzene diazonium chloride is quoted as a further sensitiser.
