Abstract

895,133. Filters. FRAM CORPORATION. July 5, 1960 [Feb. 24, 1960], No. 23444/60. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] Either one or both moulded resilient annular end caps 11, 12, Fig. 4, of a tubular pleated filter element 10 of resin impregnated paper has a radially projecting flange 15 provided with a peripheral rib 16 in sealing engagement with the filter having cover 22 and bottom plate 17 respectively the flanges 15 being capable of distortion sufficient to maintain the ribs 16 in said sealing engagement notwithstanding slight unevenness of surfaces. As shown the element 10 is supported by inner and outer perforated metal sleeves 14, 13. In a modification the ribbed flanges 15, Fig. 6, project radially inwardly and the supporting sleeves are dispensed with.
