Abstract

894,726. Flexible conductor conduit. HARTLEY ELECTROMOTIVES Ltd. Sept. 1, 1960 [Oct. 6, 1959], No. 33785/59. Class 36. A flexible conduit strip, Fig. 1, adapted for carrying an earthing wire 10, comprises two or more integrally-formed tubes 1, 2, made of rubber, polyvinyl chloride or other synthetic material, joined together by a web 3. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the strip consists of three tubes, two being connected by web 3. A flange 4 is formed, projecting from the web 3, near the junction of tube 2 and web 3, with its free end 5 towards the external surface of tube 2. By forming the flange 4 with a cross-section conforming approximately to an arc of a circle, and by recess 7, in the external wall of tube 2, an approximately circular channel 6 is formed for the sideways insertion of earthing wire 10. To assist in containing the earthing wire 10, the lip of flange 4 may be thickened.(Fig. 3, not shown). A five-tube strip (not shown) may be formed from the strip shown in Fig. 2, by the addition of two further tubes, similar to la and 1, and joined to tube 2 by a web similar to web 3 which may contain a second channel 6. Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown) show details of conduit strips attached to a connection-box as described in Specification 828,253, the earthing wire 10 being brought out of the channel 6, for connection to the box or other earthing points. The conduit strips may be embedded in concrete or plaster and nails or other fixing devices passed through web 3.
