Abstract

894,492. Condenser charging and discharging circuits for photographic discharge lamps. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 23, 1958 [June 20, 1957], No. 19456/57. Class 38 (4). A circuit arrangement whereby a flash discharge for photographic purposes is obtained from a cold cathode discharge lamp 1 comprises a condenser 6 charged from a unidirectional voltage source 7 over a resistor 9 and normally closed contacts 8 of a relay the operating winding 10 of which is energized when the condenser 6 discharges through the lamp 1 to produce the flash whereupon the contacts 8 are opened to prevent the source 7 from supplying current t¾ the discharge path of the lamp 1. Any suitable starting device may be used to initiate the discharge of the lamp, as shown this comprises an electrode 5 The circuit may be modified to include two condensers and rectifiers whereby the supply may be an alternating voltage and the voltage doubling principle used. Specification 662,473 is referred to.
