Abstract
893,720. Sorting solid materials. DRUNERT, O. A. July 18, 1960 [July 22, 1959], No. 24985/60. Class 117. A structure for sorting planks &c. according to length has a conveyer chain 1 extending its whole length, a conveyer chain 2 extending along part of its length, and relatively short conveyer chains 3 arranged at increasing distances from the chain 1. Each short chain is associated with a plank receiving compartment located below it, and the arrangement is such that as the planks are carried along by the chains they are caused to fall into their appropriate compartments. A bracket 10 is positioned at the end of each plank receiving compartment and supports, in addition to chain sprocket wheels 14, a rocker member or ejector 5 comprising a cranked lever with teeth on a plank receiving surface, and a counter weight 13 at the other end. The ejector is mounted on a shaft 11 and, in operation, the planks 4 are aligned at the chain 1 and, if a plank is of insufficient length to extend between the chain 1 and a chain 3, as it is being carried along, an end of the plank falls on to the toothed part of the ejector which turns about its shaft to draw the plank from the chain 1, whereby it falls into the appropriate compartment provided with rollers 6 at the bottom.
