Abstract
893,539. Supports for growing hops. PASZTOR, M. Dec. 20, 1960, No. 43789/60. Class 6(2). A support system for growing hops comprises a network of wires 1, 1a freely supported at their crossing points on the tops of reinforced concrete columns 3 in such a manner as to be capable of gliding over the latter and over each other, the hop plants creeping on wires suspended from this network. Further, the concrete columns are supported on the ground in such a manner that they may swing away from the vertical position on being subjected, for example, to heavy wind pressure. The columns, which are preferably provided with metal caps 4, comprise means such as a rod 7 to prevent the wires 1, 1a falling away from the top surfaces thereof. The ends of the wires are connected by means of stretcher wires 5 to anchoring plates 6 in the ground, and the network may be reinforced in the regions of the crossing points by additional wires 9.
