Abstract

893,208. Mechanical switches without quickaction. FERRANTI, Ltd. Sept. 10, 1959 [June 19, 1958], No. 19733/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVIII] A contact selector comprises an insulating disc 13 having an array of contacts set flush with its surface. A disc 12, rigidly mounted on a driving spindle 34, incorporates a nylon or P.T.F.E. sleeve 24 containing two ball-bearings 27, 28, which are sandwiched between the contacts of disc 13 and a spring-urged conducting plate 11 which forms the common terminal. In the example, there are three concentric arrays and three sets of ball-bearings, equally angularly spaced, and of corresponding radii. A number of such selectors may be superposed on the same spindle, Fig. 5 (not shown).
