Abstract

893,087. Injection-moulding machines. HOLLFRITSCH, H. Aug. 25, 1960 [Aug. 27, 1959], No. 29434/60. Class 87(2). In an injection moulding machine the mould halves are closed by at least one toggle joint system which is exclusively actuated by the injection piston 17, the force of the joint system in the extended position being unidirectional with the force of the injection piston. The movable mould supporting plate 6 carries four push rods 7 connected by pivot pins 11, 11<SP>1</SP> to toggle links mounted on members 9 rigidly attached to a yoke 2. The pivot pins 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are guided in slots 16, 16<SP>1</SP> in cam plates 18 rigidly attached to the piston 17. Introduction of fluid to hydraulic cylinder 23 lowers piston 17 and cam plates 18 and pins 11, 11<SP>1</SP> move in slots 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, and when they reach the straight portion the links are straightened and the mould halves clamped between plates 6, 4. The piston is then lowered further until the pins reach the top of the slots and material is forced through nozzle 26 from cylinder 21.
