892,849. Screw conveyers. RUHRCHEMIE A.G. July 16, 1958 [Aug. 1, 1957], No. 22887/58. Class 78 (1). Rotation of sticky material with a screw conveyer is prevented by providing the screw 2 with a series of gaps 3 which are in alignment in the axial direction and through which pass scraper blades 5, 6 mounted on a reciprocating bar 4. Several gaps may be provided in each convolution of the screw. The scraper may be reciprocated a corresponding number of times in each rotation of the screw, and may have an oscillatory movement about its axis. Movement of the scraper takes place in timed relationship with the rotation of the screw, and may be caused by the thrust of the flights, in which case the return movement is effected by a spring.
