Abstract

892,736. Making type. ADREMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. July 27, 1960 [July 31, 1959], No. 26138/60. Class 100(3) [Also in Group XXII] Embossing types for address plate embossing machines are made by deforming a type blank using a stamping device having a rapid stamping action. In an embodiment a type blank I is clamped in a holder 8 on the table of a rapid stamping machine 7. A stamping or embossing tool 2 guided in a sleeve 9 is subjected to light impacts in rapid sequence by a hammer 11 operated by an eccentric 10. Alternatively the hammer is pneumatically operated. A blank subjected to a stamping sequence of fifty 300 Kg. impacts per second requires only hardening but no further finishing. A burr is prevented by providing the type blank with a projection 12 on the end face as shown in Fig. 4, the volume of the projection being just sufficient for the character to fill the embossing die.
