Abstract
892,027. Shaft couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., BOURNE, W. A., and FULLER, H. D. June 22, 1960 [June 22, 1959], No. 21390/59. Class 80 (2). Two hollow shafts are coupled by axial teeth 4-6 on the end of one shaft interpenetrating teeth 4-6 on the other shaft and relative rotation being prevented by urging the faces 7 of the teeth 4 into abutment by wedges 8 in the other inter-tooth spaces. Each wedge 8 is urged into its inter-tooth space by a bolt 9 screwed into a sleeve 3 which maintains the shafts in axial alignment. Axial movement of the shafts may be prevented by a pin inserted in a bore 13 formed in the faces 7.
