Abstract
1285477 Couplings NADELLA and A PITNER 5 Sept 1969 [5 Sept 1968 20 March 1969] 44060/69 Heading F2U A shaft is secured to a hub or sleeve member, such as the yoke of a universal joint, by a circular key or pin engaging complementary grooves in the members, one groove having been formed by cold deformation of the surface of the member, either by a punch or the pin itself. As shown in Fig. 1 the pin 7 engages semicircular grooves 8 in the shaft 6 and yoke 5, while in Fig. 4 the pin 7 is held in a shaft groove by the bevelled edges 2a of the bent-over yoke lugs 2. The pin may be parallel or tapered.
