Abstract
891,765. Lubricating. AUTO RESEARCH CORPORATION. May 7, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 14676/58. Class 12 (3). In a mist lubricant distributing installation the finely divided oil particles in the lubricant mist supplied to a branch conduit D are removed for application in droplet form to the bearings E; F, G, H by means of mist coalescing fittings I, J, K, L screwed directly into the bearings. A mist coalescing fitting, Fig. 2, comprises a body 10 which receives a mist carrying inlet tubing 11 fastened by a coupling sleeve 12 clamped between a thimble 13 received in a recess 15 in the body 10 and a coupling nut 14. The lower part of the recess 15 accommodates a filter 16 with a strainer cup 17 and has a well 18 which empties into a passage 19 having a pin 20 to form a narrow annular drain passage 21 terminating in an enlargement 22 with a valve seat 25 for a valve cup 23. The latter is urged against the seat 25 by a spring 25 fitted over a projection 27 on a retainer 28. A chamber 30 for the valve 23, 25 collects the solidified lubricant.which flows to the bearing through peripheral outlets 29 in the retainer 28. In a modification, a double strainer cup is employed. In a further modification, a smaller strainer is accommodated in a correspondingly smaller recess 25, the thimble 13 and the pin 20 are omitted, and a ball valve replaces the cup valve 23. Outlet nozzles may be attached to all of the embodiments.
