Abstract
891,597. Nuclear power plant. FAIRFIELD SHIPBUILDING & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 15, 1960 [Feb. 16, 1959], No. 5235/59. Class 39(4) In a marine steam propulsion plant, in which steam is generated by a nuclear reactor, a combined steam reheater and moisture separator is installed between the prime mover stages. As shown, the H.P. turbine 10 receives steam through pipe 12 from the reactor steam generator and exhausts to the low pressure turbine 11 through the reheater casing 14. On entering 14, the steam flows into the annular chamber, formed of plates 33, 34, 35 surrounding the tubular heat exchanger 30. The steam passes from the chamber through the vanes of the vortex plate 34 and the separated moisture is collected in 37. The dried steam rises through the heat exchanger where it is heated and passes to turbine 11. The tubes 30 are supplied from 12 with re-heating steam which flows downwards to the header 32.
