819,762. Nuclear reactors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. May 21, 1957 [May 28, 1956], No. 16128/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(4). In a gas cooled reactor, the thermal energy generated by the reactor is transferred to a steam boiler by the coolant, carbon dioxide gas. The latter, after leaving the reactor drives a gas turbine which is coupled to the pump circulating the cooling gas. The gas is cooled before entering the pump. In one embodiment, two heat exchangers are incorporated in the cooling gas circuit. The first, situated between the reactor coolant outlet and the gas turbine superheats the steam from the boiler. The second, situated in the turbine exhaust heats the cooling gas prior to entry to the reactor.
