Abstract

The method of producing pure phenols claimed in the parent Specification is modified by raising by compression the vapours of the clear-steaming column to a temperature lying above that of the sump and heating the sump by use of said vapours, either directly or indirectly by generating steam with the compressed vapours. The compression may be produced by a blower or by a steam-jet injector.
