Abstract
891,290. Bundling-machines. LONDON BRICK CO. Ltd. Oct. 22, 1959 [Oct. 23, 1958], No. 33979 /58. Class 94(1). Apparatus for feeding stacks of bricks to a machine for placing a steel band round them, comprises means for tilting initially inclined stacks into the vertical position and for moving them laterally on to the binding platform. The stacks are one brick thick and are each supported tilted in a vertical plane in a pallet 1 of V-block form. The loaded pallet is advanced on a roller conveyer 9 to a turntable 33 which rotates 90 degrees enabling a ram 10 to force the pallet on to a tilting platform 8. The platform has end members 12 spaced apart a greater distance than the pallet width and carrying a moveable stop plate 15, and is pivoted at 13 at the upper ends of these members. A ram 16 tilts the platform until an opposite pair of stack sides is vertical, and a ram 21 forces the stack 29 off the pallet between guides 24 of the binding machine. At the same time a previously bound stack 31 is pushed on to a discharge conveyer 32. As the platform returns to horizontal, the plate 15 and a guide plate 19 are moved to permit the empty pallet to roll by gravity on to a discharge conveyer 28. The apparatus is automatic with the various operations including binding, initiated by movements of the pallet.
