Abstract

890,936. Gas-checks for cartridge operated tools. AMP Inc. Aug. 10, 1960 [Aug. 18, 1959], No. 27701/60. Classes 9(1) and 119. An explosively operated device comprises a cartridge chamber, shown in part at 22, and a cap 10, the cap being screwed to the chamber and at the same time retaining a cartridge 18 by gripping a flange 20 at the closed end of the cartridge within an undercut recess 14 adjacent the end wall of a tapered neck 26. With the type of cartridge preferred, wherein the case is of an organic thermoplastic material as disclosed in Specification 873,192, the cap is screwed tightly on to the cartridge chamber so that the flange 20 is extruded into the recess 14 (as shown in the Figure) to form a good seal between cartridge and cap.
