Abstract

889,129. Flower arrangement frames. WASZKIEWICZ, J. C. May 11, 1960 [May 14, 1959], No. 16605/60. Class 93 A flower arrangement frame comprises an elongated main frame member, a number of integral extensions of the frame member positioned at intervals there along, a corresponding number of calyx receptacles adapted to be secured to the ends of the extensions, and an outer coating of simulated flower stem material applied about the frame member, the extensions, and the calyx receptacles. The calyx receptacles may be fixed to the ends of only some extensions, artificial flowers being fixed to the ends of the others. The frame member may have a handle portion. As shown, the main wire frame member 12 carries a number of garlands 14 having a central wire stiffening member, the member 12 and the garlands 14 carrying flower receptacles 18 containing suitable floral filling material 20. A ribbon may be attached to the main frame prior to the addition of the flowers. The main frame 12 and garlands 14 are covered with green polyethylene and the flower receptacles 18 may be painted green or similarly covered. The covering may be of a brown or neutral colour and be coated with paint. The flowers may be artificial, and the receptacles 18 may be of sheet metal having inturned teeth 26. A complete frame may be provided, or an elongated strip of covered frame with spaced receptacles may be cut up and arranged as desired. A complete frame may be supplied with integral artificial flowers and ribbons ready for the insertion of real flowers. The receptacles may be detachable and screwed or snapped on to the tips of stems, and fill material may be similarly secured. The main frame and side stems need not have a central reinforcing wire. The calyx receptacle may be of different shapes, and may be a moulded member cooperating with a toothed ring slipped round the flower calyx, or may be a moulded plastic member having an internal groove carrying a washer with slits and surface teeth by which a flower calyx may be gripped. The wire may be covered with metallized thread with the flower receptacles arranged thereon, the article assuming the form of a rosary. The calyx receptacles may be formed with teeth at the top and a tab, which can be wrapped round the frame for attachment, at the bottom. The end tabs of calyx receptacles may be held in a polyethylene moulded covering around a wire, the end of which may be bent to form a handle.
