888,745. Gas producer; materials for making combustible gas. COLLIER, J. T, May 16, 1960 [May 28, 1959], No. 18238/59. Classes 55 (1) and 55 (2). Combustible gas is produced from waste rubber, synthetic resin and like materials by distillation in the upper portion 12 of a gas producer having inner and outer walls 18 and 19, solid residue being combusted in a lower portion 11 of the gas producer and the resulting hot gases withdrawn through openings 23 adjacent the combustion zone, in the inner wall and reintroduced through other openings 23 in a higher portion of the wall to distil the material in the upper portion of the gas producer. Openings 23 may be sealed as desired by plugs 26 and webs may be arranged in the annular space between the walls 18 and 19 to provide a helical passage for the hot gases flowing upwardly therein.
