The transfer device of the parent Specification is modified in that a triple roller chain is used, the upper rollers of which engage an arcuate guide 46 to guide the chain in an arcuate path from the direction of the first conveyer to the direction of the second. Also, instead of separate cams a single cam track 49 is used for guiding the fingers and to cause them to be positively projected and subsequently positively retracted.
