Abstract

888,285. Permanent magnets. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 27, 1958], No. 41150/59. Addition to 875,645. Class 35. [Also in Group XVI] A printing-cylinder for supporting a magnetizable flexible stereoplate comprises a shaft 1, three rings 2, secured thereto by taper keys 3 and having peripheries 5 of dove-tailed shape to receive a series of soft iron bars 6, each bar having permanent magnet plates 7, adhesively affixed thereto, and end rings 8 which are shrunk on extensions 4 of the two end rings 2. The bars 6 are suitably spaced apart to form a cylindrical surface, and so that a sequence of poles of alternating polarity in the peripheral direction will be formed. The cavities between the bars 6 &c. may be filled with a plastic material or a metal of low melting- point. The magnet elements are constructed as described in the parent Specification.
