Abstract

887,236. Two-part couplings. FOX, B. May 8, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 14805/58. Class 38 (1). A connector for receiving a printed circuit panel A, and which may itself be mounted on a further printed circuit panel 37, comprises a number of insulating members D clamped together in side-by-side relationship between slotted end-members F1, F2, which form guides for the panel A, by bolts E. The meeting faces of adjacent members D are slotted and recessed at 34, 40, and 42 to form respectively a slot in which a flat bifurcated contact C is held captive between the members, an aperture for receiving a similar flat, bifurcated but perpendicularlyarranged co-operating contact B staked to the panel A, Fig. 4, and a slot to receive the edge of the panel A. Other recesses 54, 56 in one member D receive locating projections on the other member. Fig. 12 shows another embodiment wherein the body H of the connector is formed as a single insulating moulding having tiers of staggered apertures 60 containing bifurcated contacts 62 adapted to receive the perpendicularly-arranged, bifurcated contacts B, B1 on the panel A which rests on a ledge 76. Co-operating shoulders on the contacts 62 and in the openings 60 prevent rearward movement of these contacts, forward movement being prevented by tongues 64 thereon, Fig. 14, which engage the rear face of body H. Separating walls 84, 86 are provided between the contacts on this face of the body. Specification 887,237 is referred to.
