Abstract
886,892. Doors, lids and covers. WERKSPOOR N.V. Oct. 24, 1960 [Nov. 3, 1959], No. 36394/60. Class 123(1). A ready-releasable hinged cover 1 for a rectangular pressure vessel 4 has outwardly and inwardly facing grooves 2, 3 in its opposite longitudinal sides for engaging the corresponding upper edges 5, 6 of the vessel 4 and is pivotally mounted about a rotatable pivot bar 8 by means of lugs 7 which have elongated apertures 9 which engage the bar 8 and allow a limited horizontal sliding movement of the cover 1 for releasing it from the edges 5, 6 preparatory to a rotary opening movement. The initial sliding and subsequent pivotal opening movement of the cover 1 is carried out by two counterweights 10 each of which is suspended from the pivot bar 8 by a lever 11 and one arm of a bell-crank lever 12 having the free end of its other upright arm 13 co-operating with a boss on an adjacent lug 7. The cover 1 can be relieved of the load of the counterweights 10 by an arm 14 which is secured to the pivot rod 8 and can be supported by a sleeve 15 adjustable vertically by a handle 16 on a screwed rod 17 pivoted at 18 to the vessel 4.
