Class 20(4) A girder for roof structures consists of an upper boom 1, a lower boom 2 and connecting stays designed as thin walled shallow troughs 3 arranged with their straight generatrices extending from the upper boom to the lower boom, perpendicular as shown in Figs. 4 and 5 or inclined to the direction of the upper or lower boom. The troughs 3 may be curved alternately in opposite directions, or may be arranged in pairs facing one another with either their convex or concave sides and may also be inclined in opposite directions when viewed along the direction of the girder as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. The lower boom may be prestressed. The upper and lower booms 1, 2 and the troughs 3 may consist of for example ply wood, wood fibre board or the like and the individual components connected to one another by groove joints and cementing.
